Summertime has inspired me to use fresh fruit in my baking adventures. Summertime has also reminded me how hot my kitchen becomes when I turn the oven on. Oh, the woes of no air conditioning, but as you can tell it hasn’t discouraged me from baking!
Over the weekend I decided to make strawberry lemonade bars. Everything was going smoothly until I burned the tip of my index finger. That threw me into a tizzy and also messed up my ‘baking schedule’. A baking schedule is very important once you get into your kitchen groove. Miss a step and you’ll be the upset baker sitting on the kitchen floor, crying.
What did I forget? Flour in the strawberry mixture. I realized this after the bars were in the oven happily baking away. So my strawberry lemonade top doesn’t have the thickest consistency, but that doesn’t matter because these bars are divine. As in I may eat the entire pan myself on my apartment building stoop. Don’t even ask for a bite. Love Bakey Katey.
