While in San Diego we went to the Mission San Juan Caipstrano for an afternoon. The Mission was built in 1776 by the Spanish Catholics. My two favorite parts was Father Serra’s Church and the Great Stone Church. The Great Stone Church was mostly destroyed by an earthquake in 1812, with the remaining ruins now ‘earthquake proofed’. How does that work, one can only guess. It was inspiring to see ruins in the US regardless. We are such a young country with few historical ruins!
