This vintage birdcage has been one of my favorite gifts from my sweet Mountain Man. We had just started dating and went antique shopping when I spotted this birdcage. I immediately fell in love and swooned over it. What I didn’t know was the next day he went back to the antique store and bought it! A month later he gave it to me for Christmas and I was over the moon. Since then, I have wanted to turn the birdcage into a floor lamp and finally finished the project the other weekend.
The project was simple. I found a Chevron Cord Set at IKEA that was super affordable. Most cords I have seen range from $35-$100, and the IKEA cord was $8! I spray painted the socket part black, as I wanted it to blend better with my birdcage. Then with black nylon thread, I attached the cord to the birdcage stand as I wound it around the base. Lastly, the finishing touch was an Edison Light bulb that brightens my living room. Happy craftey girl here!
